Born in Toronto, educated at Upper Canada College and Royal St. George's College, Andrew is also a graduate of Halifax's Dalhousie University, and Mount Royal University in Calgary. He brings a diverse background of practical experience to the Canadian film and television industry. After four summers at Toronto's PS Production Services and PS Lightsource, Andrew worked on various crews before joining Cinemedic Productions in 2001. In 2003, Andrew moved to the West Coast. As a Production Manager and Line Producer for Vancouver's Insight Film Studios and Shavick Entertainment, he helped produce their ongoing slate of MOWs and Feature Films. Some of Andrew's dramatic credits include: "Pursued", "Zolar", "Snowman's Pass", "Killer Bash", "Fatal Reunion", "Deadly Skies", "Brotherhood IV", "Criminal Intent", "Captive Hearts" and "Canes". With documentary credits such as: the Gemini and Leo Award winning, and NY Festival's 'Best Docudrama', "Secret Files of the Inquisition" mini-series for Vision TV/PBS; the Gemini nominated Discovery Channel Canada series, "Human Wildlife: The Life That Lives On Us". In 2008, Andrew won a Leo Award for Best Documentary Series; and, a Gemini Award for Best History Program for the Australia/Canada co-production of a four part mini-series, "Captain Cook: Obsession and Discovery" in association with Film Australia and Cook Films, for History Television Canada, ABC Australia, New Zealand Prime and Arte France/Germany. Andrew is a co-writer of: "The Dark Ones", a feature film in development. In 2009, Andrew produced another Australia/Canada co-production of "Darwin's Brave New World", a three part docudrama mini-series for ABC Australia, ZDF/Arte, UKTV History, and CBC's 'The Nature of Things'. Nominated for a Gemini Award and four Leo Awards, the series won the Silver Dragon at the China Dragon Awards in 2010. In the Fall of 2010, Andrew launched Ferns Entertainment based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
