Tajana Prka

Tajana Prka, born in Munich, Germany, is of Croatian heritage. Classically trained, she has entered the filmmaking world as an actor. She has co-produced and starred in the feature length movie TARGETING (2013) directed by Tarique Qayumi. A psychological-thriller about an American veteran who comes home unable to connect with her family. It's world premier was at the Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles. In 2011, she moved to Kabul, Afghanistan to continue her collaboration with director Tarique Qayumi but this time as a producer on a TV miniseries called THE DEFENDERS which aired on TOLO TV, the most popular TV station in Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan, she wrote and produced THE GIFT, which went to play at the Black Maria Festival which screened the film across the United States in 2015. Her current project BLACK KITE, a period piece which she produced in Kabul, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. The project has received both the Canada Council for the Arts and BC Council of Arts funding. BLACK KITE has been invited to 16 festivals around the world and has been honoured by 2018 Leo Awards for Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director.
