Allison Caviness is a writer, director and actor. She is the daughter of New York natives Gregory and Deborah Caviness and a graduate of LaGuardia High School and Howard University. Her work has been seen on Centric, BET, Nickelodeon, AOL.com, pbskids.org and VH1 to name a few. She is the winner of two Paul Robeson Awards and a two-time fellow of the National Black Programming Consortium's New Media Institute. She has directed media advocacy projects in partnership with organizations such as Cable Positive, The Coalition for Women Prisoners and The Indigenous Land Rights Fund. She is the co-founder of Lesedi Film Center for New York City teens. Her work has screened nationwide at universities and cultural centers, namely AFI Silver Theatre, Dixon Place Theatre, Columbia University and Rush Arts Gallery - none of which were more exciting than a week-long stint on a jumbotron in Times Square. With many projects in development, Allison's current work sees a return to her narrative filmmaking roots.
