Karla Braun (kb) is an award-winning director and Emmy nominated writer based in Los Angeles. She was raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil then graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BA in Film and began her career at Miramax Films in 2001. She has directed, written, and creative produced television, promos, key art campaigns, music videos and commercial spots for clients including: NBC, ABC, FOX, Freeform, Lifetime, History, Cartoon Network, OWN, CNN, ESPN, CNBC, CMT, TBS, Nickelodeon, TV Land, Universal, Sony Pictures, HBO, Showtime, Disney, Procter & Gamble, Fandango, Cisco, Mattel, Activision, Apple, Marvel and Netflix. Karla also produced the short film #twitterkills, featuring Sarah Paulson; it was a festival circuit success followed by a Funny or Die online launch and has won multiple awards to date. Her creative work has received international recognition including a recent Daytime Emmy nomination in 2019 for The Breast Cancer Research foundation campaign she wrote. Karla is an alumna of Ryan Murphy's Half Initiative for Directors. She is also a proud member of Free the Work. A big believer in giving back and cultivating a new reality for female creatives in the entertainment business Karla is a mentor to young women and filmmakers, volunteering with select non-profit organizations in Los Angeles.
