Of African American, Eastern European Jewish and Muscogee Creek Native American descent, Gina Loring is best known as a poet, vocalist, and workshop facilitator. As guest artist of the American Embassy under the Obama administration, she performed her poetry and music in over ten countries, and as a writer with Norman Lear's Declare Yourself project, she toured nationwide. She was featured on Jane Fonda's Fire Drill Fridays, two De La Soul albums, two seasons of HBO's Def Poetry, and has been commissioned to write poems honoring Quincy Jones and Prince.
