Thelma Davis, one of the longest dancers of the original Soul Train gang was the smoothest, coolest, and the most divine of the female dancers. She was a true definition of a dancer; her sexy but graceful dancing, class and grace as a dancer and lady, and her signature popular short cut afro made her one of the most identifiable and popular female dancers of 1970s Soul Train. Thelma brought to Soul Train a dancing style that put her in a class of her own and entertained viewing audiences with her black beauty and polished dancing moves and image. She differentiated her dancing style from the norm by showing a female could "get down" but in elegance. Thelma along with other females of the dancing gang help provide positive images of women of color and became role models to many young black girls who watched them. Outside of Soul Train, Thelma had bit parts on various television shows. Soul Train had a variety of dancers on the show with an distinct image and dancing style that distinguished them to viewers making Soul Train the popular and legendary show it was. After Thelma's tenure on Soul Train, not many female dancers attained the grace, poise, and coolness of Thelma Davis. Hopefully more information will surface on what became of Thelma Davis.
