Sport shooter Wladyslaw Karas was born on August 31, 1893 in Kielce, Swietokrzyskie, Poland. Wladyslaw won the bronze medal in the men's small-bore rifle, prone, 50-meters at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Moreover, Karas was a soldier in the Polish Resistance Army who was arrested by the Germans and executed along with 223 other officers in Magdalenka near Warsaw, Poland on May 28, 1942.
