The Scenics are a rough and scrappy, yet capable and accomplished avant garde art punk band from Toronto, Canada. The group first formed in 1976. The original members were: Andy Meyers (vocals/bass/guitar), Ken Badger (vocals/bass/guitar), and Brad Cooper (drums). The Scenics performed on a regular basis at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern. They appear as themselves in the classic documentary "The Last Pogo" and the belated sequel "The Last Pogo Jumps Again." The band released the full-length album "Underneath the Door" in 1980 on the label Bomb Records. In 1981 they released the single "Karen/See Me Smile" on their own label Scenic Route Records. The Scenics alas still broke up in 1982. The band reformed in early 2008: Meyers and Badger returned from the original line-up; the new members are Mark Perkell on drums and Mike Young on bass and guitar. The Scenics released a compilation album of live material from 1977 to 1981 called "How Does It Feel To Be Loved? The Scenics Play the Velvet Underground" that same year. Moreover, the group has done various live gigs throughout Canada which includes a performance at the June 2008 NXNE Festival in Toronto, Canada. The Scenics released a second compilation album called "Sunshine World (Studio Recordings 1977-78)" in October, 2009.
