Nico Feldman was a Romanian tenor who achieved some popularity with his 1949 recording of Bixio's song "Mama", done in Yiddish as "Mame" (originally written in Italian for Beniamino Gigli, but popularized in the U.S. two decades later, in English, by Connie Francis). He appeared in the U.S. in the mid- and late 1950s in concert (at least once at New York City's Town Hall) and opera, and around 1960 recorded an LP called "Israeli Hit Parade" on the Tap label, also appearing around that time on the A.S.C.O. label in a complete recording of Halevy's "La Juive" as Prince Leopold (in a cast that included Miklos Gafni, Frances Yeend and Alberta Hopkins). He became a cantor at Temple Menorah on Miami Beach (Florida) from 1964 until his sudden death from a heart attack in 1980.
