In 1991, Daniel portrayed the lead character "Jay" in the local Emmy Award winning television series, "The Awakening." This was a religious-themed project in Daniel's hometown of Chicago, Illinois. The two-hour "Awakening" movie was an off-shoot of a local television station's "Gospel Theatre" series, for which Daniel had written and performed in dozens of original sketches for its weekly television series, radio broadcasts and live stage presentations from 1988 to 1993 * the year in which he re-located to Los Angeles, California. When legendary Japanese comic Kampei Hazama decided to study the art of American Improvisational Acting, he chose to do so by participating in live shows with "Spank" - the improv ensemble comprised of Daniel Myatt and six other Second City Conservatory Alums. The shows consisted of sketches written by all the troupe's members, and were taped to be aired on Japanese television. Spank, Occasionally Michael, and The Rainbow Collision are just a few of the Improv Ensembles in which Daniel has performed and written in Los Angeles.
