Lara Acaster is an Emmy-nominated Series Producer specializing in science, current affairs and archaeology. Over the past 15 years she has built a strong and diverse track record in high-end factual and entertainment programming, developing and producing successful series for Discovery Channel, National Geographic, PBS, History Channel, Science Channel, TLC and Animal Planet in the US and BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 in the UK. Awards: In 2006 Lara was Nominated by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for an Emmy for Outstanding Continuing Coverage for a New Story (Long Form) for "The Wave That Shook The World" (PBS, NOVA). And, won the Science Journalism Award for Excellence in Television Reporting from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and Special Jury Remi Award at the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival for "The Wave That Shook The World." The Grierson Trust also short-listed Lara for her documentary "The Wave That Shook The World" as well as nominated her for her work on "SARS: Killer Bug" in 2003.
