Shugo Praico is a writer/director based in the Philippines. He is known for his work on a number of popular Television series for the Philippines' largest Network, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. His passion for storytelling is also evident in his work in film, where his screenplays with a particular focus mostly on gritty, socially relevant dramas, has earned praises and nominations in prestigious festivals and local award giving bodies. His first foray into directing is via the socio-political thriller "Bagman (2019)." The 2 season-series, streaming on Netflix Philippines and ABS- CBN's iWantTFC, is well-received by critics and audiences alike; with its lead star, Arjo Atayde, bagging the Best Actor award at the prestigious Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2020. Praico's LGBTQIA+ themed romantic comedy, "Betcin (2021)" is another winner at Asian Academy Creative Awards; after the WeTV/iFlix original series, streaming in Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and other regions worldwide, won the National Award for the Best Comedy Program in 2022. His recent feature "Nanahimik Ang Gabi (A Silent Night, 2022)," is cited by many local critics as one of the best films of the year, after it competed and won technical and acting awards in the distinguished Metro Manila Film Festival.
