Since 1915, the Rutgers University Marching Band has had a history of innovation, excellence, and most importantly, the showing of unending support for the Rutgers athletic teams and community. Originally begun as an 11-member band to play music for weekly drills of the Rutgers College Cadet Corps, the band has grown to over 230 members and has never stopped serving the University. The full marching band performs at every Rutgers home football game, the pep band at every home basketball game, and both perform at the occasional away game. The band is always eager to perform for non-athletic events on campus and throughout the state of New Jersey and the New York Metropolitan area. Through playing the school's fight songs, "The Bells Must Ring," and Colonel Rutgers", as well as exciting stands tunes like "Land of 1000 Dances," to singing the university's alma mater, "On the Banks of the Old Raritan," the Rutgers Band provides Rutgers University (and beyond) with a tremendous amount of school spirit, full of color, history, and tradition.
