Jean Ferro was born and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. After a trip to Los Angeles in 1964, LA became her new home. Worked as a model with photographers, Antonin Kratochvil, James B. Wood, Don Peterson, Stephen Vaughan and a special Helmut Newton for both Helmuts fine art and film production Frames From the Edge for RM Arts, filmed at Valentino Place/Paramount Studios. Ferro lived at Valentino Place from 1982-1990 when the building was purchased and included as part of the Paramount Studio lot. Paramount commissioned Ferro to produce an art work of the original door entrance for the lobby of the building. A self-taught photographer and photo artist, Ferro engages in social commentary documentary, editorial and fine art productions. CBS/TV America Show with introduction by Jack Jones, 1985, showcased Ferro at Valentino Place and Polaroid self-portraits. The ABC/TV production of Eye On LA with Chuck Henry, 1986 and a special segment created by Ferro, "Bed of Roses" and "Sea of Blue Feathers" was produced Playboy Productions/Cable 1985 as part of the new magazine segments on photographers. Ferro has a long career photographing greats such as Larry Gelbart, Fred Otash, Arianna Huffington, Reba McEntire and others. Ferro also documented the 1974 David Bowie Diamond Dogs concert at the Universal Amphitheater. Since 2005 Jean has contributed a Random Notes article for The Photograph Collector that includes Art in Los Angels during the month of January, covering her work and the LA art scene. The article is also reproduced in the Australian fine art publication Silvershotz. Ferro was hired by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority to document the 1994 Earthquake Emergency program and building of the Metrolink train stations, the first transportation movement in 50 years since the automobile was dominate in Southern Californa Ferro was hired by Dreamworks SKG to document the building of the Playa Vista Studio in 1999 that was shelved due to controversy over the wetlands in the area. From 2000 through 2013, Ferro has been president of Women In Photography International, the #1 resource center for women photographers worldwide while pursuing personal fine art projects. Her son Eric Etebari is an actor/director/producer. Has worked on many of his productions include Bare Knuckles.
