Grew up with life constantly telling her she should be involved in entertainment. She won the New York Writer's Association, Poet of The Year at eleven and at twelve, Best Commercial in The Los Angeles Times' Commercial of My Family Competition. In high school, she designed the set for Spank's music video, "Wallflower", which was recognized by MTV Europe and RCA. Graduating two years early, she began attending UCLA for medicine hoping to become a cardiologist. While there, her English professor submitted a story she wrote to the Library of Congress. It came as a surprise when she was told she had won their Future History Maker Award. With the help of her partner, M left UCLA for NYU. In the first month, she struggled to make ends meet since many were unsupportive of the career switch. By her second month, she had the much-coveted job of production assistant at NBC. There, she taught herself the precise craft of continuity, working on such shows as Friends (1994), Will & Grace (1998), and Jesse (1998). After the death of her partner, she then went to Brazil with UNICEF to work a handful of documentaries and rebuild ties with her Brazilian heritage. A far cry from cardiology, M now stands at another turning point in her career: writing and producing. Still, she maintains her ultimate dream of, someday, being able to work towards educating the poor who live in the Brazilian "favelas" (slums).
