Lily Chai was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Johnas and Cathy Chai. Her father is an aeronautics/satellite specialist and entrepreneur. Her mother was a lawyer and later became a computer programmer. Lily has one elder sister, Iris, who has a gift for animals. After graduating from college, with a B.A. in Business and Speech Communication/Journalism, she made her first trip to California. She worked at MTV for a summer, and was inspired to pursue a career as a Video Jockey. She bought a one-way ticket to Taiwan to procure a job at MTV Asia, but instead fell into acting. Lily was discovered by a well-known agent/producer at a local pub in Taiwan and got her first big break. During her stay in Asia, she starred in several popular TV shows, including "Super Sunday" and "Lecons de Amour". After a year abroad, Lily returned to her hometown (Houston, TX) to work in the corporate world for a brief period. She then made her way out to California, where she began acting, hosting, and reporting in both Chinese and English. Besides her work in Hollywood, Lily has dabbled in all kinds of freelance jobs including: waitressing, event planning, floral design, project management, and on-set translating. At the end of 2006, Lily went East to seek out more acting opportunities and rediscover her roots. She is now based in Beijing but works all over Asia.
