John McCrite graduated with a BFA in acting from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He did graduate work in directing at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He moved to Chicago and directed various theater productions including adapting and directing Dorian Gray for the Baliwick Theater. He then moved to Los Angeles and studied film directing at UCLA. John McCrite wrote and directed the critically acclaimed short film, Little Boy Blues, starring Malcolm Gets. It played several film festivals including Outfest in Los Angeles. It is part of the top selling short film series, Boys Briefs 3: Between The Boys. His short film, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Adjacent won the Award of Merit from the The Best Shorts Competition. Mr. McCrite's comedy/horror film,One Third Terror, an irreverent tribute to Karen Black in Trilogy of Terror, premiered at Out Here Now, in Kansas City. It was nominated for Best Short Horror Film of 2013 by the SCARE-A-CON film festival in New York and can be seen on YouTube. His script, Borderline (a.k.a.White Lace and Promises, Guacamole) was a finalist in The Rhode Island International Film Festival,the Golden Brad Awards, Gimme A Break International Screenplay Competition and won Honorable Mention in Los Angeles Movie Awards screen writing competition.
