Opal Butterfly was a 60s psychedelic rock band from London, England. The group was first formed in 1967. The original members were: Simon King (drums), Robert C. "Robbie" Milne (guitar), Allan Love (vocals), Richard Bardey (bass), and Tommy Doherty (guitar). Opal Butterfly recorded the demo single "I Had Too Much Too Dream (Last Night)/Wind-up Toys" in 1968. The band released three singles: "Beautiful Beige/Speak Up," "Mary Anne with the Shaky Hand/My Gration Or?," and "Groupie Girl/Gigging Song." The group toured Britain from 1969 to 1970 and usually played 90 minute sets. Opal Butterfly contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the British exploitation movie "Groupie Girl" and appear in the film as the rock band Sweaty Betty. Opal Butterfly went through several line-up changes -- Lemmy of Motorhead fame was briefly a member as a guitarist -- prior to breaking up in late 1970.
