Laura Avila Tacsan

Laura Avila Tacsan is a Costa Rican producer based in Los Angeles, Fulbright Scholar, and MFA in Film and TV Producing from Chapman University. Her film "About Us" was the Costa Rican contender for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards and had a very successful theatrical release. "Rosado Furia" received 7 awards at the Costa Rica Int'l Film Festival and ICARO, Central America. "Aquí y Ahora" received the Work In Progress award at the Viña del Mar International Film Festival, Women in Film Los Angeles' Finishing Fund, and was part of the 2018 IFP Narrative Lab selection. It was released in 2019 in theaters of Spain and Costa Rica. Laura worked at mun2 (NBCU/Telemundo) in the Programming and Development Department and has shot in different cities of the US, Costa Rica, México, Colombia, and Peru for various shows. She also worked for 5 years as the Director of Print Traffic in the Costa Rica Int'l Film Festival, was a TV host for 4 years, and is a University Professor at UCR. She works as a producer, line producer, production manager, location manager, and scout.
