Shail Kamini Ramcharan is an Actress, Screenwriter, Artist/Painter, Director, Producer, and a Gourmet Cook. She was born and grew up in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies. Her parents Jai and Grace were both School Teachers and met while they attended Teachers' Training College. Her father, concerned that he would not be able to support his family on the meager wages of a Teacher, became a Chicken Farmer and a successful businessman. Shail considers herself a country girl at heart having spent her formative years growing up on a farm. At the age of 18, she left Trinidad and Tobago to attend Golden Valley Lutheran College in Golden Valley, Minnesota. After graduating on the Dean's List, she migrated further up north to Moorhead, Minnesota where she attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Minnesota State University at Moorhead. She later received a Master of Science degree in Psychology with a focus on Mental Health Counseling, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As an Actress, Shail has been booked for principal roles in film, television, and commercials. As a Screenwriter, she has completed several screenplays for feature-length films, television sitcoms, and short scripts. Her love of writing began with great inspiration from her father's first cousin, Sir V.S. Naipaul, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001. She has three published collections of poetry and also enjoys writing short stories, children's poetry and picture books. Her great passion and love of cooking led her to publish several volumes of her cookbook "Elegant Home Gourmet" as e-books for Amazon Kindle. Shail has extended her love of acting from in front of the camera to behind the camera as a Screenwriter, Director, and Producer. She believes that learning her craft from a production standpoint is a revelation not only to her acting but to her writing as well.
