Jim was born in Los Angeles in 1946. He was interested in movies and acting from grade school onward and had parts in local LA television plays. Jim attended USC and took film and editing classes there and acting classes at UCLA. In the mid-seventies he opened a Mexican restaurant in San Luis Obispo and then later numerous other entrepreneurial restaurant and food ventures - plus he acquired a PhD in Psychology. Always a big fan of sci-fi films, Jim contacted Larry Blamire in early 2000s and they partnered in the production of Trail of the Screaming Forehead. Then a few years later Jim's own sci-fi story was crafted with RW Goodwin into Alien Trespass. Following that, as he was opening Acme Ice Cream and several more restaurants, Jim collaborated with Susan Kucera to produce Breath of Life and then Living in Future's Past with Jeff Bridges. The third documentary in the series - 12th Hour - is in final production. Jim currently lives in Wickenburg, Arizona and recently opened another restaurant there. Jim has two children - a son Thomas Cody and a daughter Laura Lacy-Shane.
