David Hauslein

David Hauslein grew up in Pennsylvania, where he first took up writing. After spending his high school years writing, producing, directing and editing his own short projects, David studied Film and Media Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia. During a study abroad program in London he talked his way onto the set of "David Blaine: Above the Below" and became a Production Assistant for Director Harmony Korine. David got his Masters Degree in Screenwriting at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After years of doing coverage on student features for the Academy he was hired as an instructor, primarily helping students understand the fundamentals of character and backstory.In 2011 he wrote "Un Buen Hijo," a short which was shot on location in Mexico. That same year David's first feature "Buck Run" was a Quarterfinalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenplay Competition. The script was produced in 2016 and recently premiered at the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival. It will screen at additional festivals later this year. Hauslein's work has been recognized in a number of high profile screenwriting competitions, including the Nicholl Fellowships, the PAGE awards, WeScreenplay and Final Draft's Big Break. His current projects include "Long White Line," a drama concerning 1970s long-haul trucking, which is currently in development and "Omega," a turn of the century story concerning the plight of a young immigrant trying to escape his family's violent criminal reputation.
