Naiby Jacques

Born and raised in Montreal, Naïby Jacques began hosting shows in 2004 as a news announcer for the community radio station CIBL 101.5 FM a few months after finishing 4 months of intensive training at the Promedia, a professional school of radio and television broadcasting. In parallel of studying at the University of Montreal for a bachelor degree in Chemistry, Naiby was an active performer and songwriter in the R&B duo DÈlice. She realized that her true calling was singing and didn't finish her degree. When DÈlice eventually separated, Naïby set aside her dream of pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter and engaged herself in other interests such as organizing events for artists in the local scene. Naiby realized the importance information and mass media and enrolled in the Promedia program, ultimately specializing in television. Meeting Judith at Promedia was a turning step towards what she believes is essential for the general public: diversity in news. At the radio station CIBL they both started as news announcers. Eventually they realized that they shared a dream of producing an urban cultural show. That show, Urbana, now plays every Saturday evening from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm on CIBL. Naïby still pursue her career as a singer and performs every now and then in jazz and R&B clubs in Montreal.
