Amy Kuney, who now performs and releases music as Ames, was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma until her parents were called to perform missionary work in Honduras. At the age of 13, Amy left the Bible Belt with her parents, but had already sparked her talent and passion for music through church and the few pieces of pop music she was able to experience by the late 90s. Over the next several years she developed herself to where she would head off to Los Angeles, California in 2004 to pursue her desires as a singer / songwriter. Her first EP was released in 2006, but got her first major attention with her "Bird's Eye View" album in 2008. She also grabbed attention with the song "All Downhill From Here," co-written with Tim Myers, which was featured on the season 5 finale of One Tree Hill. From there, she would continue to evolve as a musician playing live shows as well as exploring different sounds and genres including the more electronic driven style of MYPET with Ray Brady and Elmo Lovano in 2013, and more rock style tracks such as "Gasoline Rainbows," "Kiss Me Like You Mean It," and "Where I Can't Follow." In this time, she would become a professional lyricist working on writing songs for other artists including Kelly Clarkson and Michelle Branch, among other notable artists. Come 2016, she decided to re-brand herself as Ames as she focused on developing new music of her own with Los Angeles independent label Mateo Sound. She began releasing new singles in late 2018 with "Hold On" and "Picture in My Mind." On April 5th, 2019, she released the six track EP "My Name is AMES" to much acclaim, and is looking forward to writing even more music and developing herself further.
