Laura is a Writer, Producer, Actor and Director. Laura began her professional career in the Film and TV industry almost 15 years ago as an actor and has appeared in numerous TV Shows including Eureka, Almost Human and Arrow as well as films including the indie smash hit It's A Disaster where she worked alongside Julia Stiles and David Cross. Laura was nominated for a Leo Award in 2013 for her role in the web series Hitman 101. After spending years on set using that experience as her film school, Laura decided to begin a career behind the camera as a Writer, Producer and now as a Directer. Laura's feature script Ceilis Cove made it into the Quarter Finals (top 10% out of over 1000 scripts) in the prestigious Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition and her short script I Wanna Date U was a Top 12 Semi-Finalist in Crazy 8s and since has been produced into a short film and a TV Pilot. As a Producer Laura has been involved in feature films, numerous shorts and a webseries. Laura was nominated in 2015 for a Leo Award as a Producer for the short film Rattlesnake. Laura's production company Flat/Head Films was created in 2013 and has a number of projects in development including a TV Series called Hit Mom. As a Director, Laura has directed three short films: The Interrogation (Drama), The Road to Pyeongchang (comedy) which was a finalist in the Whistler Filmmaker Showdown and the winner of "Best Comedy" in the TAC Tiny Film Festival (LA) and The Goodnight Kiss, which was awarded a BravoFACT grant (funded by BellMedia) and is starting it's festival run in the fall of 2016 having been accepted into the Edmonton Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and St. John's Women's International Festival (so far). Laura is very active in the Film Community. She sat on the board of Women in Film and Television Vancouver (WIFTV) from 2013-2015 and was part of the WIFTV mentorship program in 2014; she was the Host/MC of Raindance Vancouver's monthly Booze 'N Schmooze networking events. Laura has also sat on a Leo Awards Jury for the past 3 years and sat on a Canadian Screen Awards Jury in 2014. When she isn't making movies or being involved in some sort of film activity Laura spends her time outdoors hiking and snowboarding. Laura played ice hockey for 18 years and is a die hard fan, always cheering on her favorite team the Vancouver Canucks.
