Born in San Francisco in 1984, Golnaz received a BA in Film, Television and Media from The University of California, Los Angeles (2006). She travels back to her roots to carry out filmmaking where she works in various feature films in Iran. During that time she meets the legendary Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami after enrolling in his Filmmaking Workshop at Karname Institution (2009). Golnaz works closely with the filmmaker as his personal Graphic Designer on his photographic series, which ends up getting published in the book called The Wall. She was given a Full Scholarship by Fereydoun Ave through Magic of Persia Foundation to receive her Masters degree in Filmmaking at The London Film School (2015). Recently, David Lynch picked Golnaz as the winner of the David Lynch Master of Fine Arts in Film (2016) short film competition, where she was granted Joanna Plafsky DLMFA Full Academic Tuition Scholarship for her film "Avo". At the David Lynch Graduate School of Cinematic Arts, Golnaz collaborated with other students in creating a unique web-series, under the guidance of veteran Hollywood producer Bill Borden. The piece was then edited by the Emmy Award-Winning editor, Duwayne Dunham.
