Colleen Murphy

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Colleen remained a resident of MA until her 30s when preparation for a second career led her to New York City. She has a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Assumption College in Worcester, Ma. Prior to her career change, she was in private practice as a clinical hypnotist and psychotherapist. As an actor, she immediately landed lead roles on regional and New York stages. This led to an audition for the film company "View Askew Productions": Kevin Smith, Executive Producer. She was cast in in the 1997 film, Big Helium Dog (1999). In 2006, she opened her own film production company, Open the Gate Pictures, LLC, with veteran actor James Noble. They burst on the independent film festival circuit with their maiden effort, Glacier Bay (2006), garnering 11 awards and world=wide recognition. She is presently associated with The Barrow Group School, Seth Barrish.
