Olivia Barratier was born in Paris, France. She is the daughter of French film producer Jacques Barratier 'State of Siege', and British dancer Sarah Hardenberg 'The Young Girls of Rochefort'. She began working in film production at MK2 Diffusion (Marin Karmitz Productions) whilst a teenager in Paris. At 18, she hitchhiked to Dublin, enrolled in art school and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 'Art & Design in Visual Communications'. Shortly after, she designed the film poster campaign for 'The General' a film by John Boorman, which won Best Director and was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. She edited the award winning feature documentary 'The Case of the Three Sided Dream' on jazz artist Rahsaan Roland Kirk in New York, then went on to work in Montreal as a film poster designer, creative director, animation & after effects artist on over 50 productions. While pursuing Fine Art studies at Art Center College of Design in California, she wrote and directed her first short film 'It All Started with a Lie'.
