Arkaitz Basterra Zalbide (1974) was born and brought up in Amorebieta-Etxano (near Bilbao) Spain. After getting a degree and working in business for some years, he studied film directing at the New York Film Academy in 2003-04. The following year he completed the feature-length documentary "Agian/Maybe," about five Basque artists, which he had begun shooting in New York City in 2003. The film was premiered at the 2006 San Sebastian International Film Festival. He has recently begun directing a film that will mix documentary and fiction to recount the life of the renowned film director Vojtech Jasny. He is also working on the script for a fictional film, which will be his third feature-length movie.
