When he wasn't playing football, Charlie Robson was very interested in making films. While still in high school, he began teaming up with Chris and Matthew Scheuerman, a pair of brothers who had been making their own movies since childhood. Together, they crafted several short films that gained recognition at International Student Film Festivals. It was during the making of The Last Banana (2005) that Robson and Chris Scheuerman began discussing a similar passion to make an emotional boxing drama. Their discussion would eventually grow into a full-length screenplay titled Cornered, which would evolve into 'Hope for the Broken Contender'. Robson plunged himself into the role of Ryan Yule with unyielding dedication, training as a boxer for several months, slimming himself down to fighting shape. Since filming wrapped on 'Hope for the Broken Contender', Robson has become sought after while actively pursuing a career in Vancouver, British Columbia. His performance in 'Hope for the Broken Contender' marked the beginning of a promising young actor; the first glimpse of one of Canada's rising talents.
