Born to the Natural State on December 9, 1979, Dennis Smithers, Jr.'s interest in writing and the horror genre spawns from childhood. Since then, he has achieved publication and distribution as a storyteller through books, motion pictures, and comics. He attended the Northwestern School of Taxidermy in 1998, the same year he graduated with honors from Cushman High School. He was also trained by the Arkansas prison system (Arkansas Department of Correction) and served as the youngest Correctional Officer at the Grimes Maximum Security Unit in Newport. He also served as a Correctional Officer at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. His career in the motion picture business began in 2005 when he wrote, produced, directed, and shot a 32 minute psychological slasher known as "A Bothered Conscience." The self-distributed success of the short film led Smithers to write, produce, direct, and shoot a feature-length version. The feature version of "A Bothered Conscience" was released worldwide in all media formats on April 3, 2007. Smithers resides in his hometown of Cushman, population 452.
