Anna Nuria Francino

Anna is a New Zealand-based film and television writer with a background in acting and theatre production. In 2021, Anna was selected by The Black List to participate in The Black List New Zealand Project: a professional development workshop with leading global screen industry executives and screenwriting mentors. Her original screenplay BARA previously won NZ Writers Guild's Best Unproduced Feature Film Script competition. Between 2015 and 2021, Anna wrote for New Zealand's longest-running serial TV drama Shortland Street (1992). She also spent 17 months birthing story in the show's fast-paced writers' room. A graduate from Unitec with a Bachelor in Performing and Screen Arts, Acting major, Anna also stage-managed plays including Shane Bosher's Angels in America and Toa Fraser's Pure and Deep. In 2012, Anna entered Auckland's Short + Sweet Festival. The play she directed won Best Newcomer, Best Actress, and Best Overall Production.
