Mike Von Fremd is an ABC News correspondent based in the Network's Dallas bureau. He reports for "World News with Charles Gibson," "Good Morning America" and "Nightline." Graduate from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's in history in 1974. Von Fremd is a native of Washington, D.C. Formerly he was based in Atlanta, Goergia for ABC. Von Fremd's assignments have included covering the Iraq war. He also was part of the team that received an Emmy award for the "World News Tonight Saturday" broadcast of the day Elian Gonzalez was taken from his Miami relatives and returned to his father. He was also part of the team that received the Edward R. Murrow award for the "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings" broadcast of the day President Clinton was impeached. In 1981 Von Fremd was assigned to the White House, where he reported on the first term of President Ronald Reagan. From 1980 to 1981, Von Fremd was ABC News' Senate correspondent. Mike came to ABC after spending eight years at CBS News' Washington bureau.
