Vanessa Whyte shot Jeff Pope's true-crime ITV drama A Confession, starring Martin Freeman, Imelda Staunton and Siobhan Finneran, which was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Drama Series, and nominated for Best Mini-Series at the Broadcast Awards 2020 as well as Best New Drama at the National Television Awards. Vanessa also lensed the 2018 BAFTA and Royal Television Society Award-winning drama Murdered For Being Different, directed by Paul Andrew Williams. She photographed Operator, which won the BAFTA for Best Short Film 2016, and another short, Bovril Pam, directed by Vanessa Caswill and starring Jodie Comer, was nominated for the same award in 2019. Vanessa was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit in 2018.
