Gilberto Villahermosa is an internationally published author, historian, and screenwriter. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and spent his early childhood in the Panama Canal Zone. He is a West Point graduate and served 33 years as a Combat Arms officer and Master Paratrooper in the United States Army before retiring as a Colonel. Villahermosa has published dozens of magazine articles on military-historical and national security topics. He is a priority writer for Strategy & Tactics, World at War, Modern War, and Counterfact magazines. His first book, "Honor and Fidelity. The 65th Infantry in Korea. 1950-1953", is the U.S. Army's official history of its all-Puerto Rican regiment in the Korean War. Colonel Villahermosa is the on-camera historian for the PBS award-winning documentary "The Borinqueneers", which describes the trails and tribulations of the unit's Puerto Rican soldiers during the conflict. The President of the United States recently approved awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the veterans of the 65th Infantry Regiment for their service during the Korean War. Villahermosa's second book, "Hitler's Paratrooper. The Life and Battles of Rudolph Witzig", follows an elite, young German parachute officer and his men through World War II in Europe as they struggle to first conquer and then to survive. The book has been translated and published in Czech, Polish, and Finnish. Villahermosa is completing his third book, "Hitler's Paratroopers in Normandy. The German II Parachute Corps in France, 1944". Villahermosa is the creator of "The Legend of Pasha" and "Fort Sumter" ( historical, biographical screenplays), a one-hour TV pilot, "Troll Slayer. Shadows in the Shadows" (Fantasy / SciFi) and a 30-min sitcom TV pilot "The Burn". Villahermosa holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from West Point and Masters Degrees in International Affairs and Philosophy of Political Science from Columbia University in New York City. He speaks Spanish and Russian and lives in New York's Hudson Valley with his wife Natalie. The couple has three sons.
