Before JoVoan could read, he was directing short films, music videos and executing in-camera visual effects with his father's VHS camera. When the camera died, production swiftly came to a halt. Being only 11 years old with no source of income, JoVoan entered a competition to design a billboard exploiting the deadly effects of secondhand smoke, which he won, and was awarded $500. He used the cash to replace the camera and was back in business. After graduating high school, JoVoan delved into the real world with one objective... film school. He enrolled at Full Sail University where he studied film production and entertainment business. JoVoan Sanders produced his first feature film, Automaton Transfusion (2006) at age 24. After the film screened at numerous festivals in 2008 including the "Another Hole in the Head Film Festival," "Los Angeles Scream Fest," and "Toronto's After Dark," The Weinstein Co./Dimension purchased the film and successfully released it in the DVD market. In January 2009 JoVoan teamed up with childhood friends Desmond Dolly, Benjamin Dolly, and Jamie Lukaszewski to form the motion picture production company BoomTown MovieFilms, LLC.
