Matthew Holmes is an award-winning Australian director, writer and producer. He started his career as a stop-motion animator, sculptor and story-board artist working on hundreds of TVCs and award-winning short films between 1995 - 2012 at Adelaide's prestigious animation company Anifex Pty Ltd. After six years of production, his entirely self-funded feature film 'Twin Rivers' was completed in 2007. 'Bad Boy Bubby' director Rolf De Heer was instrumental in the completion of the film by mentoring Matthew through the final cut, as well as personally enlisting the help of his own regular collaborators to complete the post-production. In 2016, Matthew completed his sophomore feature 'The Legend of Ben Hall', which started as a hugely successful crowd-funded short before launching into production as an independently-financed feature, with fellow Australian director Greg Mclean (Wolf Creek) joining as Executive Producer. The film has since garnered multiple international awards and has been released in numerous countries, earning critical praise for his authentic representation of the history. Matthew's third independent feature film 'The Cost' will be completed in mid-2022, with his fourth feature 'Fear Below' due to begin production in late 2022 with Bronte Pictures producing. He is now a freelance director and writer residing in Melbourne, Victoria. Matthew has multiple feature screenplays in various stages of development including the psychological horror 'BlackJack', the creature-feature 'Territorial', a bold re-imagining of the Greek mythology tale 'Jason and the Argonauts' and a 4-season original drama series titled 'The Bushrangers', which explores every major Australian bushranger from 1856 to 1881.
