Simon Kilmurry is the executive director of the International Documentary Association and oversees all of IDA's programs and funding initiatives. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the Producers Guild of America, and the Board of Jurors of the George Foster Peabody Awards. Prior to IDA, he served as executive producer of POV, the long-running PBS showcase of independent documentaries from 2006-2015. He has received a Primetime Emmy Award, three Primetime Emmy nominations, 17 News and Documentary Emmy Awards, more than 60 News & Doc Emmy nominations, six George Foster Peabody Awards, four DuPont Columbia Awards, and is a three-time recipient of the Best Continuing Series Award from the International Documentary Association. He also served as chief executive of American Documentary (AmDoc), POV's non-profit parent organization. Prior to becoming executive producer, he was AmDoc's chief operating officer from 1999-2006. He has served on juries and panels at film festivals around the world including Sundance, IDFA, Shanghai, Dokufest (Kosovo), Jhilava (Czech), Tribeca, Visions du Reel, Zurich Film Festival, Hot Docs, Palm Springs, Sibiu (Romania) and Doc Aviv (Israel). He has lectured and conducted workshops at universities, film schools and conferences in the US and internationally.
