Rick Blanchard was born in Georgia and grew up in Florida, where his father was a minister in the Methodist church and his mother was a math teacher. When he was 17, he broke his neck in a diving accident and was paralyzed, becoming a quadriplegic and requiring a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Following a long recovery, Rick attended Jacksonville University and the University of Central Florida, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree. Moving to California, Rick studied film, earning a Master's Degree in Cinematography at the California Institute of the Arts. He appeared in two Hollywood films, "Heroes" (1977) and "Coming Home" (1978). Rick had many interests and hobbies, including photography, travel, cooking, music, and computer technology. He moved to Davis, CA in 1983. Rick died in 1996 at the age of 46.
