Nicolas Szent was born in Oradea. He was raised in Germany. His father was of Hungarian descent and an export merchant. His mother is a German schoolteacher . He has German, Hungarian and Romanian ancestry. By the age of 7 he started diving, which filled much of his recreational life. Nicolas became German national champion from the 1-meter springboard at age 14. When he was 19 he went to drama school in Germany. Soon he worked in different theatre companies countrywide. In 2011 he was nominated for best actor at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh in John Patrick Shanley's "Danny And The Deep Blue Sea" portraying Danny. Szent has committed himself to the craft and began studying acting in New York at the preeminent William Esper Studio. Shortly after he graduated his talent agent signed him. His first job in the U.S. was on CBS's Madam Secretary.
