Spencer worked for Frank Casey in the Warner Bros. publicity office while attending the University of Chicago. He left University to travel throughout Asia-teaching ESL. After film school in Florida, he was a full-time filmmaker and comedy writer when his mother, a clinical psychotherapist, sparked his interest in cognitive psychology, which led to the publication of his book: "The Brain Mechanic" (by HCI Books Inc). Spencer represented the U.S. affairs of prince Manvendra Singh Gohil, and produced the prince's Mission Film for "Free Gay India" before founding Brain Mechanic Films LLC in 2021.
