A'Lelia Bundles's book, "On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C. J. Walker" -- the definitive biography of her great-great-grandmother, Madam C. J. Walker -- was a New York Times Notable Book, and is the inspiration for a 2020 four-part Netflix series starring Octavia Spencer and Blair Underwood. She began her television news career in 1976 in New York with NBC News. After 13 years at NBC, she joined ABC News as a producer with World New Tonight with Peter Jennings in Washington, DC. An Emmy and DuPont Award winning producer, she later served as Washington, DC Deputy Bureau Chief and as Director of Talent Development in New York. She has appeared as herself in several television productions including Stanley Nelson's PBS program, "Boss: The Black Experience in Business," and Chris Rock's "Good Hair."
