Jacques Shy was born in Gloversville, NY. He lived there until his family moved to Durham, North Carolina in July of 1992. His family moved around for a couple of years until they settled on a house in Durham that was soon to burn to the ground. In the coming years, Jacques would attend a number of elementary schools, Lowe's Grove Middle school, and C.E. Jordan High School where he was the 2001 undefeated state wrestling champion at 160lbs. Shy also played Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, and Tenor Sax while in school, also, Shy has played bass guitar since age 12. Shy has trained in a number of martial arts, and attributes his goal driven life to his family upbringing, love of Calvin and Hobbes, and admiration for Bruce Lee which led Shy to study philosophy, mixed martial arts, choreograph fights, act, write, and direct. He often states that his first moment of assurance came when his teacher/friend/writer/director Matt Moore put him in front of 30 "Children of the Hunt" cast members said "this is Jacques, he knows what I want" and walked in the house, leaving Shy to instruct the workings of the fight sequences. Shy works constantly with his friends from Adam Ross Productions and always considers them his family. He is also often associated with Killing of the Kid Productions working with them as on set photographer, actor, fight choreographer, and whatever his friends need him to do. Shy also has his own production company "Ill Shinobi Cat Entertainment". As of March 2010, Shy resides in Los Angeles.
