Born and raised in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Adel Akkad first became interested in theater in 2002, being one of the stars of his middle school's production of "The Deliverers." Soon after, Akkad moved to the country of Jordan with his family. Akkad continued with his passion of acting and has been the Cowardly Lion in "The Wiz" and Roger in "Rent." In the spring of 2005, Akkad's theater arts teacher and one of his biggest supporters, Lara Atalla, cast him as an extra in an Italian made-for-TV movie "The Holy Family." It was his first on screen role and certainly wouldn't be his last. Akkad returned to the States but returned to Jordan a year later to become a casting assistant, body double, and extra in Kathryn Bigelow's next movie, "The Hurt Locker." Akkad was accepted to The Los Angeles Film School in early 2008 and will start in July with a major in directing and a minor in production.
