Mark Tristan Eccles was born in Yorkshire, England. His mother, Mollie Eccles, is a stage and screen actress and model, and inspired Mark's early interests in drama. Mark is known for Nick Moran film Ask the Cheat (2017), The Black Prince (2017), 27, Memory Lane (2014), Phase Three (2012), and The Bike Thief (2005). His television credits include ITV's Foyle's War as Mr. Corrigan. Mark trained for seven years at the National Youth Theatre under Nobby Dimon, the legendary Artistic Director of North Country Theatre, and initially acted in theatre under Director-in-Residence, Associate Professor Andrew Manley, where he learned the craft of drama, script work, improvisation, mime, and movement. He worked alongside a broad range of peers from across the world, exploring the power and value of drama. Since then, he has worked in film and television. Mark's work covers a wide range of television and film drama, comedy, and commercials. Further, he has been an urban and business model. He also featured in a Jamie Cullum music video for Island-Universal Records. Mark trained in studio/gallery/outside broadcast presenting, under BBC Look North's Roy Player. He has also undertaken programme Editorial and Technical instruction. He trained professionally in salsa, street, jive, and Hindi dancing. As a student, Mark worked his way up in his evening job in cinema exhibition, to Senior Projectionist, working with a range of professional 35 mm film projection equipment, film stock, aspect ratio, and sound formats, in a LucasFilm THX-certified film theatre, where he also successfully trained new members of the team. He has worked with both 35 mm film and DCP digital cinema professional formats. This has given him a very in-depth understanding of the politics, art and mechanics of the cinema. Further, on the production side Mark has worked as a feature film Producer and First Assistant Director with MAVERICK Filmworks, Inc, overseeing a cast and crew of over forty people, and was a Producer with UK-based ForgeFilms and TalkingLens Productions. He has produced four feature films, and been instrumental in securing cinematic premieres. Outside of drama, Mark's equal love is science. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Chemistry, and gained a First Class grade for his final research project in the field of Bioinorganic-Organometallic Chemistry, that was the first one ever to yield an X-ray crystal structure of a biomimetic model enzyme-ligand complex, as a structural model of Human Carbonic Anhydrase II isoenzyme. He has subsequently consulted on various global scientific projects, including lithium ion battery technology, and water treatment technology to help developing countries optimise their water purification. He is endlessly fascinated by nature and people - both are quirky and provide endless lessons. Hence, his dual love of drama and science.
