Born and raised in Queens, NY, Venessa is a Puerto Rican writer, performer and winner of the coveted, "Excellence in Storytelling" award, beating out all the other snot nosed kids in her kindergarten class! A life-long career in the arts, she is passionate about telling stories that are socially conscious and inclusive of ALL experiences. Her hit solo play, Organic Sofrito or Other Recipes for Disaster, has healed audiences throughout NYC and Chicago. As a mother of twins with Down syndrome, Venessa is most proud of the advocacy work she has done for the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with differing abilities. Ms. Diaz is a proud fellow of the 2021 Sesame Workshop Writers Room and 2019 NHMC TV Writers Program. She is also a member of the Actor's Equity Association and founder the non-profit Down syndrome achievement center, GiGi's Playhouse Long Island.
