Powerman MC, born Kenneth Lamar Gibbs, is an entertainer born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. At the young age of six, Powerman began singing in church choirs and performing on stage. By seventh grade Jr. High, Powerman had excelled in music and band, playing several instruments, like the alto Saxophone, Drums, and Flute. As a child, living in South Central L.A., and residing in Foster homes, Powerman found a way to stay out of trouble in the drug and gang infested streets by constantly participating in entertainment activities. After graduating from Locke High School in the late 1980's Powerman began to join live video production plays. During his senior year he had won the award for best actor in his school and thought it only made sense to continue acting, and to also perform music. After the death of his Foster mother, Powerman began residing with his foster brothers, all of whom were drug dealers and gang affiliates. It was them that recognized the talent in Powerman and pressured him to move away from their area in order to pursue and reach his goals. After having brief problems with, "the law" he decided to attend Police Academy training and began to find work as a Security Officer, all while having two children and making rap music. Being told by everyone he knew that he should try and make it big Powerman started making rap singles, and working other jobs at the same time. While on the set of a video shoot with a couple of directors Powerman found an interest in film production and went back to school 1993-95 for film producing at Los Angeles recording workshop. Having success in the film school, Powerman decided to start making movies, as well as rap videos, only to slow down his film production because in the mid 90's he began selling thousands of rap albums and touring all over the United States and Mexico. Coming full circle in 1999-2000 Powerman started starring in movies and writing movie scripts. He also began coaching kids and teaching kids the basis of filmmaking at the Panorama Recreaton Center starting in 2000. And now, present day, 2011, Powerman is currently in production of new movies and new records under his film and record company: Feel Da Vibe productions.
