Carlos Funes

Carlos Funes is an Emmy nominated filmmaker born in El Salvador and now operating out of New York. Over the span of his film career, He's worked as a director, writer, editor, digital effects animator, among many other things. His work has earned him a plethora of awards, including: multiple nods from the world famous Alamo Drafthouse's Filmmaking Frenzy and his latest Best Script award from Toronto's Wildsound. In 2006, Funes directed the No Talking Promo for Drafthouse starring the late TX Governor Ann Richards. However, Funes isn't just working on outside projects but also founded his own production company, Clasico Entertainment. Under the Clasico moniker, Funes has produced several shorts that have garnered attention. More recently, Funes is trying his hand at feature-length productions. His latest short, "This is Kilo 3", which Funes plans to turn into a feature-length film recently won Best Script at Wildsound Festival in Toronto and was accepted to Short Film Corner at Cannes. The film is about a radio operator doing his best to aid a downed pilot whose in the wrong place at the wrong time. Producer Barbara Defina (Goodfellas, Casino, Hugo) is on board to produce another feature-length film titled "South of Bexar". About a about the happenings of Country music singer-songwriter in a small Texas town. In addition to his Clasico portfolio, Funes has worked on projects for major companies such as: IBM, Lionsgate, Viacom, L'Oreal, Droid, Blackberry, Verizon Wireless and the Alamo Drafthouse to name a few. Funes also worked as first assistant director on "The Awakened", a feature-length thriller featuring Edward Furlong and Steven Bauer and was on the post-production team for the award winning HBO Documentary "Casting By" which stars Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. There's nary an aspect of filmmaking (in front of or behind the camera) that Funes can't put his hands to. His wit as a writer, skill as a director, and natural creativity make him an asset to any team.
