Gained a degree in Computing Science from Aberdeen University in 1993 before working for two small management consultancies, one specialising in business process redesign and the other in corporate communications campaigns. During this time, she set up an office in Melbourne and worked on consultancy projects in Vietnam and Brussels for clients including BP and Shell. She also qualified as a Quality Assurance Lead Assessor and began studying towards an MBA. For most of her life, Debbie had been involved with bands and amateur musical theatre groups, so eventually she took the plunge and changed career path to follow her lifelong ambition to work as a professional performer. In 1999 she graduated in Acting with Musical Theatre from Guildford School of Acting, winning the musical theatre prize for being the most outstanding student on the course that year. She enjoyed a successful career as an actress and singer for a number of years, starring in numerous productions including the 3rd UK tour of "What A Feeling!", alongside Limahl (Kajagoogoo) and Gwen Dickey (Rose Royce) and played the dual roles of Shania Twain and LeAnn Rimes in the UK tour of "Legends of Country". In 2003, Debbie met her (now) husband and eventually 'retired' from touring full time and left London to live with him in Norwich, where she became the lead singer and joint business partner with him in his band at that time, which has now become the Debbie Boyd Band.
