Gillian Holt

Gillian Holt is an English born Cinematographer with wealth of experience in many areas of technical and creative specialization. A talented engineer and a natural problem solver she worked in the music and electronics industries as well as founding and running businesses of her own. Wanting to explore her own creativity further she gave up her career as an Engineer and studied for a fine art degree. A talented draftswoman she was initially drawn to painting but she soon developed a passion for video and then for filmmaking. She moved from the north of England to Berlin Germany to study experimental and narrative film at the Kunsthochschule Weissensee and at the Universität der Künste. After University it was briefly back to Engineering as the Chief Workshop Engineer for Arri Rental in Berlin for four years before launching a new career as a Cinematographer. She has worked on both a great number of her own projects and also with and for others, thereby gaining considerable experience of feature and short film, music video, documentary and commercial products. She is known and respected for a passion for the craft of filmmaking and a meticulous attention to detail while at the same time working quickly and without stress. She has had her work screened at numerous film festivals, has won international competitions and awards, She lives in Berlin Germany and works worldwide.
